    Urology Department of SKS Hospital

The Urology Department at SKS Hospital cares for the urinary system — the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra — in both men and women, as well as the male reproductive organs. Our urologists treat a wide range of problems, from painful kidney stones and recurrent infections to difficulty passing urine, blood in the urine, leakage of urine and cancers of the urinary tract.

Urological problems are common but are often ignored out of embarrassment, especially prostate and bladder symptoms in older men and urine leakage in women. We provide a comfortable, private setting where patients can speak openly, and we explain every finding and treatment option in simple language. As the teaching hospital of SKS Medical College & Research Centre, our practice follows current national and international guidelines.

Most stone and prostate procedures are now done through natural passages with telescopes, without any cut. Our services include ureteroscopy (URS) and retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) with laser lithotripsy, PCNL for large kidney stones, ESWL shock-wave therapy, TURP for enlarged prostate, cystoscopy, urethroplasty for strictures and laparoscopic urology, supported by modular operation theatres, ICU and 24×7 emergency care on the same campus.

    Conditions treated and procedures offered

Recovery and treatment plans vary. Your doctor will advise after evaluation.

Kidney Stone Treatment (URS / PCNL)

Removal of kidney and ureteric stones with URS, RIRS laser or PCNL, without a large surgical cut.

    Prostate Surgery (TURP)

TURP removes the part of an enlarged prostate blocking urine flow, working through the urethra without an external incision.

    ESWL (Shock-Wave Lithotripsy)

Focused shock waves from outside the body break suitable kidney stones into fragments that pass naturally in the urine.

    Cystoscopy

A thin telescope passed into the bladder to find the cause of blood in urine, infections or blockage, and treat some problems.

    Urethroplasty

Reconstructive surgery to repair a narrowed urethra (stricture) and restore a normal urine stream.

    Laparoscopic Urology

Keyhole surgery for selected kidney, ureter and adrenal conditions, with smaller scars, less pain and quicker recovery.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about Urology at SKS Hospital, Mathura — appointments, tests, insurance and emergencies.

We treat kidney and ureteric stones, enlarged prostate, urinary tract infections, blood in the urine, urine leakage, urethral stricture, hydrocele, male infertility and cancers of the kidney, bladder and prostate, in both men and women.

Common symptoms include sudden severe pain in the back or side that may spread to the groin, blood in the urine, nausea or vomiting, burning while passing urine and frequent urination. Fever with stone pain can mean infection and needs emergency care.

Yes. Most stones are now treated with endoscopic laser procedures (URS or RIRS), PCNL through a small keyhole in the back, or ESWL shock waves from outside the body — none of which need a large cut. See our Kidney Stone Treatment page for details.

No. Many small stones, usually under 5 mm, pass on their own with plenty of fluids and medicines that relax the ureter. A procedure is advised if the stone is large, blocks urine flow, causes repeated pain or infection, or does not pass within a few weeks.

Frequent urination, especially at night, a weak or interrupted stream, difficulty starting, dribbling at the end and a feeling of incomplete emptying. Sudden inability to pass urine is an emergency and needs immediate care.

TURP is advised when prostate symptoms are severe despite medicines, or when there are complications such as urine retention, repeated infections, bladder stones, bleeding or kidney damage. It is done through the urethra without any external cut. See our Prostate Surgery page for details.

Blood in the urine should always be checked, even if it happens only once and without pain. It can be caused by infection or stones, but may also be a sign of a bladder or kidney tumour, so tests such as ultrasound, urine examination and cystoscopy may be advised.

PSA is a blood test that can help detect prostate problems, including cancer. Men above 50, or above 45 with a family history of prostate cancer, can discuss PSA testing with a urologist, who will explain the benefits and limitations and interpret the result along with an examination.

Drink enough water to keep your urine pale, reduce salt and packaged foods, avoid excessive meat and cold drinks, and follow any specific diet advice based on your stone analysis. Regular follow-up with ultrasound helps catch new stones early.

Sudden inability to pass urine with a painful, full bladder is a urological emergency. Call +91 86799 11029 or come to our emergency department immediately, where a catheter can be placed to relieve the blockage before further treatment is planned.

Yes. SKS Hospital is empanelled with major insurance companies and TPAs, and procedures such as stone removal and TURP are usually covered. Our insurance desk will help with pre-authorisation — please bring your policy card and photo ID.

Book online through our appointment page, call +91 86799 11029, or visit the OPD registration counter. For severe stone pain, fever with urinary symptoms or inability to pass urine, come directly to the emergency department or call +91 86799 11029.
